How it works

Sparkpond Image Tools first checks the real binary signature and dimensions instead of trusting a filename extension. Valid files enter a one-at-a-time queue so a large batch cannot monopolize the tab. Each source is decoded, optionally resized, re-encoded and validated inside a dedicated local Worker.

After a file is validated, Sparkpond Image Tools shows the untouched original and waits. Review the settings and choose Process image explicitly; only then does the encoded result replace the ready state. Its preview is built from the same Blob offered for download, while the original File remains only in current page memory.

Formats and settings

  • Balanced keeps the input format and uses a practical quality for JPEG, WebP or AVIF.
  • High quality spends more bytes on lossy formats; Smaller size may reduce very large dimensions.
  • PNG stays lossless, and transparent pixels are preserved unless you explicitly choose JPEG.

A concrete example

A 4032×3024 JPEG from a phone can remain JPEG, be reduced only when the chosen preset requires it, and receive a clean filename such as photo-optimized.jpg. The displayed saving always compares the real source and output byte sizes.

Know before you start

  • Animated files and SVG are rejected; this version handles static JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF only.
  • A tiny or already efficient source can produce a larger result, which Sparkpond Image Tools labels instead of hiding.
  • Up to ten files and 50 MB per file are accepted, subject to a stricter memory budget on limited devices.

Frequently asked questions

Do my images go to a server?

No image bytes, filenames, previews or metadata are uploaded. The static host still receives ordinary requests for the app files and may log technical connection data.

Why can an optimized image be larger?

Re-encoding has overhead, and an already compact source may leave little room to save. The result remains available so you can compare it or try another format.

Can I close the tab and keep my results?

No. Files and results are deliberately memory-only. Download what you need before closing or refreshing the page.
