Guide / EN

How it works

The e-mail preset reduces the long edge to at most 1600 pixels and avoids enlargement. Opaque photos use JPEG around quality 78; a source with useful transparency stays in a format that can preserve alpha rather than silently adding a background.

Processing and validation remain local, so a private attachment does not need to visit a separate converter before you add it to your own mail client.

01

Formats and settings

  • A 1600-pixel long edge is a practical compromise for viewing on ordinary screens.
  • JPEG quality 78 targets photographs, not text-heavy scans.
  • Check the real result size because mail providers and recipients have different attachment limits.
02

A concrete example

A 12-megapixel opaque phone photo can become a 1600-pixel JPEG suitable for a message while preserving its aspect ratio. A transparent diagram stays alpha-capable, which may be larger but avoids an unexpected black or white rectangle.

03

Know before you start

  • Sparkpond Image Tools does not send the e-mail or know your provider’s attachment limit.
  • Medical, archival or print originals should not be replaced by an e-mail derivative.
  • Several results can still exceed a mailbox limit; download individually or use the batch ZIP only when appropriate.

FAQ / 03

Frequently asked questions

Will the tool e-mail my photo?

No. It only creates a local downloadable file; you attach it in your chosen mail app.

Why is my transparent image not JPEG?

JPEG has no alpha channel. The preset avoids silently flattening meaningful transparency.

Is 1600 pixels always enough?

It is a practical viewing size, not an archival rule. Use the resize tool when a recipient specifies exact dimensions.
